When did you first realize you were ABDL?
At 14 or 15. I found a copy of Penthouse Forum that described the life I had been leading for close to 8 years then.
What steps did you take to get your diaper 'fix' as a child and/or teen?
I actually stole them from neighbours, family and other various places.
Do your parents and/or siblings know about you and diapers? If so, please explain how, and how they reacted?
Mom and Dad both knew about it. They found my “stash” under my mattress when mom went to “flip” the mattress. (I never knew they did that!) The told me that they found a few items of mine and placed them in a bag in the back room for me to go through. Nothing else was ever said.
Have you dealt with the shame and regret that is the binge/purge cycle? Please explain.
I have NOT done a binge/purge cycle in almost 30 years now! :D Even now, some of the more “worn” out items I have kept!
How has this fetish affected your social life and/or dating? Married life? Parenting?
I have a g/f that LOVES to wear as well.. it took me a long time to find a kindred spirit. She loves diaper sex too! Lately I have introduced her to FLR and she has started to humiliate me by forcing me to wear diapers more outwardly than I have.
Some experts believe that we become the way we are because of traumas experienced at an early age, including abuse and/or neglect. Do your life experiences bear this out?
There were NO traumas when I was a kid. My earliest recollection was when i was 7. I just loved the way diapers felt. Mom used to put Vicks on chests and then she would put a baby diaper around my neck. After that, I started to wear them, knowing where she put them away.
For the older generation, please tell us more about what it was like being ABDL before social networking. I will be looking for the perspectives of members in their 40s, 50s, and even higher.
Yikes, I guess this means me! :P I discovered this when I was 7. You feel ashamed of this reaction your body has to an object or a situation that you have no explanation for. You feel alone and trapped. Unable to “express” yourself to friends or family. I always wanted my mom to catch me and force me into a diaper but i could never bring myself to letting her find out. I can also remember when I was 12 or 13 telling a close friend in hopes that he may be into this or something like this. The friendship continued but it was never spoken of again. When I was 23, I got my first computer and modem. 1200bps LOL. The first thing I did was explore the internet for like minded people and found Bill from then Bytemine!
For the little dunces, please tell us about what it was like to discover this fetish/lifestyle on the Internet. Please be at least 18 at the time of writing, but be specific about what age you discovered it, what sites helped you, and keep this part PG for obvious reasons.
You cannot imagine the joy i found in seeing and reading about others with my interests online. Imagine living in a world where the only thing you can see is the printed word. Now, try to find out about this stuff. Libraries did not have information on “sexuality” back then. Mainstream porn had nothing or very little about it and when you did “find” something you were told by people that the stories were “made up”! Then you find others online, in a community or a BBS that share those interests and you wanna either burst out and tell them or pose and wait. Most of us did the pose part, at first I suspect. I know I did. I was in AWE of what I found...

What % of your sexual activities and/or masturbation incorporate diapers? Has this caused problems for you?
I believe that at one time it did, yes. Association of sex with a device or item, i.e. a FETISH can be sometimes detrimental to over all sexual health. I have my problems being a diabetic (type 1 for almost 30 years now) I still love to make love in diapers thankfully and she is 100% supportive of that. But I do suffer from ED and this can sometimes make it difficult.
