DiaperMentality.com

First of all, these are not pasties.

That was my first thought when I saw the pictures at DiaperMentality.com, sent in by friend-of-the-blog Vincent VanGoo.

It turns out that this site, featuring Kenyans wearing diapers as a form of political protest - is intended to make a statement.

From the site:

At the age of 50, Kenya is considered a relatively young country. It’s a line often used by our politicians to explain why certain challenges remain unaddressed, despite many years of effort.

Alternately, Kenyans are urged to remain patient because some issues are traced way back to the founding of this nation, and so it is projected that their resolution will take as long to be formulated.

Put another way, our problems, big and small, are considered teething problems that we shall overcome in the fullness of time, when the nation achieves the required maturity before the problems go away, virtually on their own. We call this the Diaper Mentality.

Like babies who cannot keep their pants dry, we have used time as a convenient cushioning to prevent us from providing immediate and concrete responses to our failures. To put it a little crudely, we display utoto or childishness where a little maturity could have guaranteed a very different outcome.

We take the view that Kenya and Kenyans have to come of age and we should take full responsibility for our actions.

Introducing... Snuggies Diapers!

If you're a member of the AB/DL community you are almost undoubtedly familiar with Snuggies Diapers.

Snuggies are a series of very realistic, but very fake photoshop pasties featuring a make-believe brand of adult diapers we've been fantasizing about since the late 1990s.

Created by Vincent VanGoo, who was featured here two years ago, these diapers have been appearing in false advertising (lol) for years.

You can see the entire series on Tumblr

Over the years some of you have emailed or texted me to ask me if Snuggies are real.

Good news!

Soon.... they very well may be!

That's because a group of AB/DLs are working together to create the first-ever AB/DL-designed baby-style diaper. Vincent VanGoo has even designed the first print!

They've asked me to announce it here, and they are looking for people willing to invest in the dream, in the hopes of turning the dream into a reality.

You can find investing information on their website, SnuggiesDiapers.com. That's also where you'll be able to get info on the product as it is made available.

If you're interested in being a potential customer, bookmark these pages, because this is where you'll eventually be able to find the latest [links open in new tab/window]:

As one of the original fans of the Snuggies Series, I'm hoping to become a fan of Snuggies Diapers, too...

Hall of Shame... Diaper Boy - EXONERATED?

Now, before you begin celebrating this small step in favor of Diaper Rights, consider a few things.

First, Utah's 'Diaper Boy' is still a convicted sex offender.

Second, he spent more than three years in prison.

Third, his name has become synonymous with 'pervert' in the city he's from.

And fourth, what he does has no place in the ABDL community at large.

You may remember my past Hall of Shame posts about Barton Bagnes, aka 'Diaper Boy', a Utah AB/DL who was arrested for exposing his Elmo diaper to children as young as seven, and for printing and distributing fliers (in the shape of paper airplanes, which he flew across people's lawns) directing children to diaper fetish websites.

Turns out, that's not actually illegal.

In the state of Utah, at least.

That's what the Utah Supreme Court recently decided.

"In exposing his diaper, Bagnes undoubtedly startled those around him. A diaper in this context would certainly have been perceived as unusual, even disturbing," the decision said. "But it in no way resulted in the effective exposure of Bagnes’s private parts."

The justices indicated that a diaper, though unusual for a grown man to wear, affords more coverage than other kinds of undergarments.

They also noted that unexposed, internal sexual gratification is not punishable by law.

"The private realization of a fetishized sexual fantasy alone would not make his conduct criminal," wrote Justice Thomas Lee. "Our Victorian past is well behind us. We no longer live in a society where our style conventions and social mores clamor for head-to-toe cover-up. The opposite is closer to the truth."

Read the article here.

Could this legal decision mean that we're one step away from all being able to openly wear diapers in public?

Maybe!

But before you go acting all crazy, think about the consequences Mr. Bagnes has already faced.

And the consequences our community faces every time someone in it does something stupid in public.

Baby Pictures Page Updated!

FYI: I updated the baby pictures page here. Check out the links just below my banner. The baby pictures link shows a selection of the photos that have appeared here since I started blogging in 2008.

Did you contribute a photo to me and you're not seeing it on the baby pictures page? Sorry, what I've chosen is just a random sampling of pics. Email me yours, or a link to it, and I'll put it up.

ALSO: As always, I am always, always, always looking for pictures and stories for this space. I don't care if you have contributed twenty-five times or just thought about contributing... my email is abysitter@gmail.com and I'm waiting. I appreciate every single person who's been dope enough to send in stuff for me to post here over the years... hope you'll think about doing that today.

In The News: The TSA & Diapers (Again)

For those of you who wear diapers through the airport - especially the ones who treat all of your fellow passengers to the odor of your ripening soaked pamper - a bit of news: those liquid scanners at the TSA will detect your wet diaper - and cause a ruckus.

A woman recently wrote in her blog entry of the experience she and her husband had when a TSA scanner shouted loudly, "He's wearing a diaper!" I know for some people that would be a fantasy come true, but for others it would be embarrassing, so fair warning:

"He then told us that the scanner was unable to tell what was under his clothing and that "further review" was required. I asked him what that meant and he asked us to get our bags and follow him. We were taken through an office area into a  room in the back. After waiting a couple of minutes 4 new TSA officers(one of which went to college with DH but dropped out his freshman year- still embarrassing to know someone in a situation like this though) came in and one asked DH if he had any liquids in his pants. By now we were both getting quite annoyed with being asked the same question over and over and he replied that he was wearing a diaper and that he had pi---d in it while waiting in their ***** line. Probably wasn't the best idea for him to get that mad but at that point he didn't even care about people knowing he had a medical condition and we just wanted to get out of their.

They then patted him down and asked him to drop his pants when they felt the "suspicious padding" around his waist. After finally seeing the diaper, one of the officers said that he would need to "change out of it" to "clear the issue". He got his spare brief out of my carry-on, a female officer came up and gave him a large Ziploc bag and they left  the room while he changed. She returned, collected the bag with the wet brief and went off for about 5 minutes. The group of officers then returned and told us that we were cleared and showed us to the door. On a positive note, I must say that all of the TSA agents, except for the one who loudly yelled "he's wearing a diaper" in front of  the entire airport security line, were courteous, professional, and apologetic for the intrusion."

Reported around the world, this was...
