Luvs Boat: Gas Run 2020

Restrictions on boating in New York because of the Coronavirus would make for a late start to the 2020 season. Even once marinas were allowed to put boats in the water, restrictions on overnight stays and people outside immediate families visiting boats would hamper our usual style. Still, in late May two of our Luvs Boat regulars would join me in moving the boat from the winter marina to the summer one. Still, things just didn’t seem the same, and I carted cases of diapers and other supplies to the boat with trepidation - would we even have a season this year?

Gas being so cheap - thanks, COVID-19 - and recent news events suggested that it may be going up in the near future. It was time to gas up! The boat has two 75-gallon fuel tanks - fuel consumption on a boat is actually measured in gallons per hour  - and both tanks were very, very low. So on a Monday afternoon in June we’d motor down to the marina I trust to fuel her up, and do just that. Three hundred fifty dollars later - special thanks to Mike and Rob for stepping up with a good portion of that - we were ready for our first real boat ride of 2020.

The ride would involve masks and some distance, at times, and we’d spend the entire time outdoors - no retreating below to the cuddle cabin this time around. We would be padded, of course. But as we’d be passing close by vanilla friends and family on the dock during our run, it had to be less in-your-face than usual. Enter Tykables cargo shorts… big boys near shore, diapered boys for the rest of the cruise, and the ability to easily switch back and forth with ease.

After a cruise of an hour or so we’d head back to the marina and spend some time at the dock. Someone along our route would text me a video of our passage - good thing we were snapped up when we passed! We’d spend time discussing how to be safe and social distance but still, hopefully, have some fun in 2020.

More to come…

'Luvs Boat' w/ Lakhota & PaddedRob716

Last weekend it was time to finally gas up the boat. We've been taking it out a lot lately, and it's been getting low on fuel. (Boats measure gas in GPH - that's gallons per hour, not miles per gallon - and they go through a lot of gas). My boat has two Chrysler V8 engines beneath the floor in the salon, so as you can imagine, it eats gas. Om nom nom!

Armed with a little help from NYKidd1990 - thanks for your support - and the crew assistance of Lakhota and PaddedRob716 - it was time to take it down to the gas dock and fill up. The total cost was nearly $400, and the tanks are just about 3/4 filled... and ready for adventures for the months of September and October, when the boat comes out of the water before winter. Wah!

As long as we were out there we decided to motor out onto the lake and get some photos - and what a perfect day for a photoshoot! I think you'll agree from the pictures below, it was an amazing day for it - perfectly calm, blue skies, and almost no boat traffic. Two besties, their boat captain, and a couple of Crinklz - one Aquanaut, one Astronaut - and it was an amazing day.

I should mention that Lakhota and Rob had made me an amazing pasta dinner at their campsite the night before. It's not too far from the boat, so having them close enough to stop by for some shrimp linguine one night, and drive over to help me with the boat is the next morning, feels pretty amazing. Having friends like these is the definitely of community, and it's a wonderful feeling. Thanks, boys.

ABDL Boat Weekend August 2018 - Part I

If you've been reading the blog a while you probably remember that I had a few ABDL Boat weekends last year, in August and September. I also adopted a little for a little, and had so many little weekends that my vanilla friends started to complain. Oh well... priorities hehe.

In 2018 things moved a little slower, with visits from Mikey early on [part 1] [part 2] and then a sparsely-attended weekend in July. Still, with Evan being willing to drive all the way from CT, and interest from abies from up and down the eastern seaboard, I started opening it up to people from outside of the area, complete with a Fetlife group for the Luvs Boat.

Enter SilverDL, who joined us all the way from NYC, this past weekend.

For August 2018 I was lucky enough to have six ABDLs gathered in one floating spot. They came from Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, and NYC. Nick/Nemo and SilverDL spent the weekend, and Lakhota, Mikey, and - someone brand new to the boat - Tommy joined us Saturday afternoon/evening. It was an amazing time, and probably the most relaxed I've been in a while.

First, on Friday night, SilverDL got to try out the 'crib' - the first person to spend the night in it since I changed it over to a nautical theme.

On Saturday Silver, Nemo and I went for a long drive down the lake, eating lunch on the dock at a local waterfront restaurant and then stopping at a farm-to-table ice cream stand where the ice cream is actually made from duck eggs laid by the ducks who squawk at you as you're eating. We each had a sundae consisting of coffee ice cream, wine sauce, and espresso bark - it was amazing.

Nick and I are both local to the area, so we tend to take the 'country' for granted, but Silver comes from a place where the sun is blotted out by high-rise structures, and his Snap story reflected his amazing at miles of lakefront, rolling corn fields, and cows - it was cool to see.

A quick trip to Wegmans for supplies was in order before we raced back to the boat for a night of pizza, beer, and diapered conversation.

Boats passing by through the canal would have been treated to quite the view if they peered over into the inside of the 'Luvs Boat' - five littles just hanging in Huggies like being diapered on boats is just how things are around here.

At one point we realized that, of the five in the photos above, four had been diapered in PeekAbu's - and, coincidentally, each rocking a different animal. So you know we had to pause for a little ABU representation, snapping a few pics for the Facebook secret groups and our Snapchat chats.

That's a whole menagerie of animals - rawr!

After everyone had their fill of pizza and beer - someone (not naming any names) so much they actually leaked onto the furniture! - it was time for changies, before retiring to the 'cuddle cabin' for some real relaxation.

I'll have those pictures and more later this week. In the meantime, check out my Tumblr, and be sure to add/follow/like my little floating friends, too...
