First of all, a very sincere thank you...
I want to thank everyone for your support. When I first published my e-book, Tales from the Crib,
I have a confession to make: I was worried I might not sell very many copies lol. I've been blogging for more than nine years, and I know my blog readers sort of got accustomed to reading page after page of my stories without having to pay a penny. I've heard "you should write a book" so many times, but... would anyone actually buy one?
Well, a whole bunch of you have - whew! hehe - and for that I am extremely grateful.
Unless you've written true accounts of your own ABDL experiences, I'm guessing you probably have no idea what goes into writing these stories. I'm not some copywriter over here churning out page after page of fapfiction; it takes me hours to complete a single blog entry, sometimes. The Little Bwo story I put together for this book took two days to write. Finishing the Baby Mikey story - finally, lol - took an entire afternoon. If you've noticed that it can sometimes take me months to write the next chapter of a story, that's often because the process takes so much out of me. These are real memories - some of the best moments of my life, and some of the worst, too - and I'm trying to do them justice on the pages of a blog (and, now, an e-book). Don't believe me? Write a story about a real-life ABDL encounter, and I bet you'll see.
Proceeds from the sale of the e-book are being put toward an ABDL resource project I am working on. Every copy of the e-book allows me to pay more for hosting, graphics, and other expenses that I'd otherwise have to cover myself.
I spent nearly $500 alone on my photo contest, between sponsoring a prize a merchant couldn't cover and shipping out diaper sample packs to everyone who didn't win one of the other prizes. When I'm not abysitting I'm a freelance writer and social media manager, and every hour I spent writing ABDL stories and/or working on this project is an hour I'm not getting paid for freelancing. Frankly, I can't afford to do that all the time lol. Your support of my e-book helps offset that, and I love you guys for it.
If you haven't purchased a copy yet, please check out the table of contests and FAQs - just click the link below. It's 350 pages of ABDL stories and commentary, and a ton of pics. And it benefits some amazing shit I'm excited to be able to share with you soon. 18+, please - and thanks, again, for your support.
By the way, I've gotten a few comments on the blog, and some anonymous messages on Tumblr, from folks who want to buy a copy but who don't have PayPal or can't have "Abysitter" show up on their credit card statements. I can't reply to anon messages, folks. If you are one of those in this predicament, please email me at abysitter@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make alternative arrangements.
Speaking of resources...
Who remembers the blog series I did called What Makes Us Tick?
You might remember that, back in 2010, I put out a request for help with this. A whole bunch of you responded, giving me your thoughts on why we are the way we are. I even did a Part II.
I had plans to continue this series, but some of the responses that I got from my readers for my next question were so emotionally charged that I started reaching out to people individually. I never wrote the next part of the series. I was afraid to post some of the stories, honestly. Some of us have been waiting since forever to write about this, and the responses I was getting showed that. This is an emotional subject for some of us, filled with binging/purging, diaper drama, and some real doubts, in some cases.
Instead of putting together the next 'chapter' in the series, I decided to put together an ABDL Guide. I reached out to people individually for help, and got some really good information back. People also offered to submit illustrations and photos, and folks approached me with a ton suggestions.
I started working on it a few years ago, but a hard drive meltdown and backup failure resulted in the loss of a lot of what I'd completed. I got a promotion around the same time, became super busy with work and life stuff, and put it on the back burner for a while...
Last year after a corporate restructuring gave me some extra time for travel I attended a diaper convention for the first time. I met a ton of you, and talked and listened to people from all corners of our community. I attended educational classes, where I listened to presentations on all sorts of things related to ageplay.
One thing that struck me was that there are far more people than I realized who struggle with this aspect of their lives. I also noticed what may be a correlation between mental health issues and a need for 'littlespace' - and while that's not to say that people who are ABDL need mental health treatment, it did make me wonder what role this lifestyle plays in our mental health status - positive, negative, neutral? I decided it was time to revisit the idea of an ABDL Guide.
In coming weeks/months I'll begin putting out requests for help with this project of mine. I'll be asking people to share real-life experiences on certain topics, and to answer questions, in both poll and paragraph format. Some of these questions may be very personal. I hope to do some interviews at an upcoming convention for this, as well. I hope you'll consider helping.
Answer my questions.
Contribute illustrations.
Submit photos that represent who we are and what we love about this.
Or just buy the e-book, read some ABDL stories, and support the project.
Question #1... The first question that I have is... what questions do you have?
Is there something about your 'little side' you've been wondering about?
Is there something about the ABDL fetish that you'd like me to crowdsource to the community?
I've gotten a ton of requests for more about the history of our community itself, and I'm working on that.
I've gotten a lot of requests for my blog entry on "Keeping It 18+", and I'm working on that. (It's actually done, in fact, and those of you who get my blog entries by email may have seen a preview copy that accidentally posted on 1/1 at 1 a.m. - whoops!)
I've had suggestions for essays on relationships, safety, ageism, and - well, you get the idea.
So many suggestions.
But I still want to know: what do you want to read about?
This isn't a survey - I'm asking you to email me and send a message with what you'd like to see an ABDL Guide contain. Thanks in advance for taking the time!
And again, if you purchased the e-book - you rock.
