Up today, the case of one Frederick Lowe, out of Tampa, FL.
This one was so close that I actually saw it on the news. Heard the word "diaper" and looked over to see the guy's mug shot on the screen. Damn.
It's important to remember 'innocent unless proven guilty.'
Mr. Lowe, according to prosecutors, is an attorney. He's also a volunteer basketball coach who likes to discipline "bad boys" by making them wear diapers. And wet them.
While "diaper discipline" is all well and good in the context of our fetish, sometimes people forget two very important rules.
We ALL should know the first by now:
1. KEEP IT 18 PLUS. Always.
The second concerns positions of authority. It is illegal in Florida (and in most states) to engage in sexual activity with someone who you have a mentor-type relationship with. Teacher student. Coach player. Prison guard prisoner. You get the idea.
It's the stuff of fantasy roleplay for kinksters of all kinds - ABDLs and others. But there's one key differentiator: both parties must be consenting adults.
The victim in this case was a sixteen year-old student who Mr. Lowe coached.
The law says someone under 18 (in Florida, at least) can't consent. The law also says the younger person in a coach-player relationship can't consent. (Sometimes this stops once the younger person turns 18. In some states it may not.)
The police believe there are other victims. Mr. Lowe appears to have been one of us. The sixteen year-old likely wasn't, but may have been - it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility that a sixteen year-old ABDL met an adult ABDL on a website and the adult didn't follow the rules, unfortunately...
